About the Wallingford 2036
Plan of Conservation & Development
The Town of Wallingford is updating its Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) to guide land use decisions and community growth through 2036. This comprehensive planning effort will build on the 2016 plan while addressing how the town's needs have evolved over the past decade. The POCD serves as the town's blueprint for future land use and development.

The update will examine key areas including land use and zoning, economic development, housing, transportation, natural resources, historic preservation, recreation and open space, and infrastructure. The planning process will analyze demographic trends, market conditions, and development patterns to identify opportunities and constraints that will shape Wallingford's future.
The final plan will include a Future Land Use map, development typologies for different areas of town, and an implementation matrix with clear action items, responsible parties, and timelines. By aligning recommendations with available grant opportunities and funding sources, the POCD will serve as a practical roadmap for achieving the community's vision while positioning Wallingford for future investment and sustainable growth over the next decade.

Why is a POCD Important?
A Plan of Conservation and Development translates a community's shared vision into actionable policy, ensuring that decisions about land use, infrastructure, and growth align with residents' values and priorities. It serves as both a legal framework and a practical roadmap for preserving what matters most while strategically planning for the future.
